The Mission of CalTrout
“To protect and restore wild trout, steelhead, salmon and their waters throughout California.”
Their Mission Statement is simple and to the point. Their work is not. CalTrout is active in preserving our fishing heritage in all parts of the state. The Steelhead and Salmon initiative is working to remove the Iron Gate dam on the Klamath River and also working on ways to restore Steelehad in some of the creeks and rivers of Southern California. Their Blue Ribbon water initiatives are working on protecting trout waters in the Mammoth Basin such as Hot Creek (see photos on this website) and the Owens River, in addition to protecting such famous waters as Hat Creek and the McCloud River.
